She blogged about Podcasting for Profit and ended her post saying that she and I are related. It’s a running joke between Suzanne and I because I keep getting asked at conferences if we’re related. I get it so much that now I just say, “Yes.” My affirmation only elicits even more questions about our lineage, background and family tree.

Now, there’s a pretty obvious reason why Suzanne and I aren’t even cousins twice removed. Can you spot it?

Yup, that’s right! Our last names are spelled differently. Suzanne’s is B-A-R-N-S while mine is B-A-R-N-E-S. That kind of rules us out as being related. But hey - as long as people continue to ask, I’ll continue to reply with:

“But yes, Suzanne and I are related. What gave it away?”
