In the time it would’ve taken me to agonize…oops, I mean write every word, I threw together this video program using the wonderful Camtasia.
Here’s the 7 steps to podcasting for profit in 7 minutes.

Sean Carruthers and Andy Walker host a video podcast called Lab Rats TV. Episode 93 includes an interview with yours truly. It was recorded at the New Media Expo in September.
I asked the Lab Rats guys if they could pull the 10-minute clip of me and here it is. It’s a fun interview and I just adore them both. You can’t see Sean as he’s behind the camera, but Andy is the one who is interviewing me.
I met Andy at Podcamp Toronto back in February and he’s a featured case study in Podcasting for Profit. I was so relaxed with Andy, I gave him a kiss during our interview. To find out where, click on the play button below to launch the video and watch it for yourself.

I’ve been seeing alot of feedback come in regarding Podcasting for Profit. Some of it has come from my pals across the pond in England (and Ireland). I was recently interviewed by Krishna De of The Podcast Sisters about the book. Click here to take a listen.
Also, Anna Farmery of The Engaging Brand podcast (who was a featured case study in the book), had this to say about the book:
“I have been impressed with the mix of information that Leesa gives in the book, examples of how to use the techniques, examples in the ‘real world’ and also the use of personal stories that make this book very readable. Often books about technology are dry, but Leesa uses personal experiences to engage with you as a reader. As I go through the book I want to pick out areas that may help you, but I would recommend that if you are struggling to see how you are going to make your podcast profitable, buy the book!”

I’m a believer in creating a snappy, pithy and brief introduction when someone asks what your podcast is about. I call this your Unique Podcast Message (UPM) and I provide a formula on how to craft one in Podcasting for Profit.
In essence, your UPM is about your audience, not you. Most podcasters make the mistake of focusing on themselves when describing their podcast, however, your focus should be on getting more people to consume your podcast. A secret to gaining a ton of listeners or viewers is to describe your podcast in 10-words or less with an emphasis on describing the problem your podcast solves.
I found a few that I really, really like. Can you see why these UPMs are so compelling?

Suzanne Falter-Barns (at left) is the Get Known Now coach. She helps coaches, consultants and authors build a platform and get media interviews using cost effective tools.
She blogged about Podcasting for Profit and ended her post saying that she and I are related. It’s a running joke between Suzanne and I because I keep getting asked at conferences if we’re related. I get it so much that now I just say, “Yes.” My affirmation only elicits even more questions about our lineage, background and family tree.
Now, there’s a pretty obvious reason why Suzanne and I aren’t even cousins twice removed. Can you spot it?

Michelle Sullivan has a blog in French, but she decided to blog about my book in English. That’s fair since the call this afternoon and the book itself is in English. However, I would’ve loved to see a review en français about Podcasting for Profit.
In Chapter 10, I talk about my quest to learn French. I took my first french class in Grade 8 and studied the language until my second year in university. There was an incident that happened in my second year university class that prompted me to change my major. I won’t spoil it for you, but let’s just say the incident shook my confidence in speaking my language.

Chris Penn constantly amazes me. He’s the host and producer of a Financial Aid Podcast and he did something so clever with his review of Podcasting for Profit. He applied the 7 steps that I talk about in the introduction - Assess, Plan, Launch, Grow, Profit, Measure, Optimize - to talk about how students can apply these steps to finding a career.
Here’s Chris’ summary as it applies to job hunting.
