National Association of Broadcasters

I’ll be speaking at the National Association of Broadcasters’ Podcasting Summit taking place during their annual conference in Las Vegas.

I’ll be presenting on 2 topics:

I’m looking forward to catching up with Richard Harrington, David Lawrence and others. Although I haven’t met Alexandra Gebhardt, Philip Hodghetts, or some of the other presenters, I can’t wait to network with them since they’re passionate about podcasting. Should be fun.

Preview Call #5 - Your Social Media Success

On February 13th @ 1pm EST, I will host the last preview call for the Social Media Telesummit. In Preview Call #5, I will answer your questions about the Telesummit. So, if you’ve been meaning to sign up, but you’ve got a nagging question in your mind, join me on the call or submit your question in the box below.

The cool thing is that this will be the only preview call where you can stream the session live over the Internet. Instead of calling in using a phone, just come back to this page and click on any of the streaming buttons below. Cool, huh?

Even if you can’t make the live call because of work or another appointment, submit your question below and listen to the recording when it’s posted later on.

Update: Here’s the replay of the 43 minute session.

New Media Matters Show with Paul Colligan

Tonight, February 6, 2008 at 10pm EST, I’ll be a guest on Paul Colligan’s live call-in show called New Media Matters. He’s going to grill me about the Social Media Telesummit format. In other words, the business of putting on a virtual event.

When I invited Paul to speak at the Telesummit, he asked me alot of questions. He wasn’t too sold on some of the features of the event, but when the information page went live, he was hooked. He’s been a strong supporter of the format ever since.

So, if you want to ask me:

  • How I came up with the Telesummit format;
  • Why I’m using a long sales page to promote the event;
  • Why I think anyone would stay glued to their phone 3 hours a day over an 8 day period;
  • How I scored some of the top names in social media to speak at the event;
  • What will you really get out of attending the Telesummit;
  • Why I’d think anyone would pay almost $600 to attend a virtual event when there’s social media events happening for free;
  • What are the ways I’m marketing the Telesummit;
  • And anything else that comes to mind.

The live event is over, but you can listen to the recording. Subscribe to the New Media Matters podcast to get the recording.

Women In a Home Office - Mississauga Chapter

On February 29th @ 9:30am, I’ll be presenting Podcasting for Profit to the Mississauga Chapter of Women in a Home Office. Thanks to its Director, Patricia Muzzi, for inviting me.

I love Women in a Home Office (WHO for short). It was founded by a passionate and fabulous woman, Anne Stone, who lives out in Calgary. She knows how much I love skiing and always teases me that she lives so close to Banff, she could ski and be back in the office in a matter of hours. Lucky gal.

In any case, if you’re a woman in a home office and want to network with other women in a home office AND you’re close to Mississauga, come on out on February 29th @ 9:30am to network and have fun.

Time to Share New Media With Non Technical People

This morning, I attended a breakfast networking event hosted by the Mississauga Board of Trade. I only found out about the event yesterday afternoon, but decided to go because I hadn’t networking with non-techie people in forever, the location was right in my backyard and my energy is at its peak in the morning.

I drove over the a BMW dealership where the breakfast meeting was held at and was immediately struck by the elegance of the location. We were right on the show floor and it was just beautiful. Also, everyone was just so friendly. I love networking events where people reach out to meet each other and have no need for any prompts.

Won’t Be at Blog World Expo

A business matter has come up unexpectantly which means I can’t attend Blog World Expo. I already called Dave Taylor, the lead organizer for the event, so he’s aware that I’ll be MIA. I’m not one of those types to “break up” over email, Twitter or instant messenger, so I picked up the phone instead.

I was looking forward to meeting people like Debbie Weil, Andy Wibbels, Scott Allen, Des Walsh, Toby Bloomberg, Amy Gahran, Steven Van Yoder, Denise Wakeman and Sherman Hu. People I’ve been networking with online for the past 3-years who I would finally meet in person.

I was also looking forward to catching up with old friends such as Scott Bourne, Lee Gibbons, John Havens, Mark Juliano, Alex Lindsay, Chris Brogan and Maggie Fox.

But alas, it’s not meant to be. So, I’ll watch from afar. We’ll catch up at another event in the future.

Update: Jason Van Orden, author of Promoting Your Podcast, will be taking my place on the panel and solo session this Thursday. Jason, you rock!

Coaching Super Summit Wrap-Up

While at the Coaching Super Summit over the weekend, I grabbed a picture with Milana Leshinsky (with the red shirt on left).

She’ll kill me for telling you this, but I’m about 4-inches taller than her. I took off my heels and Milana stood on her tippy-toes just so we could stand shoulder-to-shoulder for the picture. We had loads of fun doing this.

I made alot of observations while at the conference over the weekend. Many. Here’s just a few.

I’m in Baltimore

I couldn’t believe how quickly I got to Baltimore this afternoon. It took all of an hour. Really fast and the Baltimore airport is beautiful. Reminds me of Terminal 1 in Toronto as well as the terminal in Vancouver.

I’m here because I’ll be MC’ing Milana’s Coaching Super Summit. I’m excited. namely because I’m going to meet one of my clients and my business coach face-to-face for the first time. I have goosebumps.
