How to Use Social Media to Promote a Paid Event

We’re less than a month away from the start of The Social Media Telesummit which takes place at the end of February.

The number of attendees grow each day and what’s really impressive is that the speakers are using the very tools they’re going to speak about to promote this event.

Take a look at these examples:

• Paul Colligan and Sherman Hu are both using Twitter to give updates about the event. See here and here.
• More on Paul - He asked his blog readers to tell him who they want to hear at the Telesummit. He’s going to choose just one person and pay for their admission to the event. What a great way to engage your blog readers and get them to comment on your blog.
• More on Sherman - He joined me on a preview call about a week ago and posted it as a video on his blog. You can view Part 1 and Part 2.
• Krishna De is blogging about social media and has included a short blurb at the end of every blog post about the Telesummit (see here, here and here). She uses this indirect way to promote her participation as a speaker in the Telesummit and uses repetition to keep the event visible to her audience.
• The Blog Squad has put the Featured Speaker button on all their blogs, including this one and this one. Plus, they’re joining me on a preview call on Wednesday January 30th @ 8pm EST to talk about the top 7 social media tools
• Kate Trgovac blogged about the event as well and added an event button to the sidebar of her blog.
• Michele PW added a post to the Social Media Telesummit blog about social networking.
