By way of a test, I asked five technology-challenged folk at work to tell me what a podcast was. None of them knew. I then asked them to explain syndication, and all five of them knew (Peanuts, Martha Stewart, Oprah, syndicated newspaper columnist etc).

Thanks for letting us use this in our ‘missionary’ work! As we move out of the geek speak echo chamber and into the real world, it is important that we use words that are relevant to our listeners point of view. Podcasting is still the word but I’m starting to use the sub-title of ‘portable media’.
